 From data room review through reps and warranties negotiation and 100-day integration planning, I've led SALT due diligence on transactions across income/franchise, sales and use, property, payroll, and unclaimed property exposure. 

 I've defended audits, negotiated redeterminations, and litigated exemption positions — including successfully removing $1.8 million in assessed tax by defending a client's services under Hegar v. CheckFree Corp., and securing a no-change result on a six-figure aircraft exam assessment on redetermination. 

 I've led multi-state VDA and exposure mitigation engagements spanning 45 states and local jurisdictions for clients with significant unregistered exposure. 

 I've tracked nexus law and Wayfair-driven state legislative change since the case was decided in 2018, and help companies figure out — plainly — where they need to register and why. 

A meaningful share of my career has been spent in oil and gas upstream, midstream, refining, petrochemical, and biofuel processing, along with manufacturing, commodities trading, and healthcare — industries with SALT rules that don't show up in generic guidance. 

Available as an extension of your existing team for state and local tax questions that fall outside your firm's core focus — a second set of eyes on a technical position, a sounding board on client strategy, or staff-level execution on a defined project. 

Ongoing or catch-up bookkeeping support for clients who need clean, current books — useful both as a standalone service and as groundwork for the SALT and due diligence work above, since accurate books are often where a nexus or exposure analysis has to start. 

Hands-on work with the underlying data — cleaning, reconciling, and structuring transaction detail, general ledger data, or exemption certificate records so it's usable for an audit response, a VDA submission, or a due diligence data room.
